Salary
Im Jahr 2020 brachte die COVID-19-Pandemie die Welt zum Stillstand. Wir hielten Abstand, blieben in der Sicherheit unseres Zuhauses und schützten uns. Nicht jeder hatte dieses Privileg. An den europäischen Grenzen waren Lager wie Moria auf Lesbos überfüllt – über 20.000 Menschen auf der Flucht waren dem Virus ausgesetzt, gefangen unter unmenschlichen Bedingungen, und nur wenige schienen sich darum zu kümmern.

Wir haben diese Initiative gestartet, weil wir den im Lager „Moria“ Eingeschlossenen eine Botschaft der Solidarität senden wollten, indem wir zunächst selbstgemachte Masken herstellten und sammelten. Menschen aus dem ganzen Kontinent trugen dazu bei, von Schülern in Deutschland über Feuerwehrleute in Barcelona bis hin zu Großmüttern in Italien. Uns wurde jedoch klar, dass unsere Arbeit zwar eine nette Geste war, aber Gesten allein nicht ausreichten. Menschenrechte wurden täglich verletzt und das Versagen unserer Politik war inakzeptabel.

Deshalb starteten wir 2021 unser erstes Projekt auf Lesbos, um die Gemeinschaft direkt zu unterstützen. Wir begannen mit der Verteilung von Kleidung und Hygieneartikeln an Menschen auf der Flucht. Von unserem Hub in Frankfurt aus entsandten wir über 20 LKWs mit humanitärer Hilfe nach Lesbos, Nordfrankreich, auf den Balkan und in die Ukraine.

Daily tasks

Supporting our MEAL program by tracking daily activity numbers, compiling monthly reports with the coordinators, and helping to develop tools and procedures to monitor our impact:

Supervising daily operations in the Cafeteria, Women’s Space, Paréa Club, and Computer Room, in coordination with the Project Coordinator:

Supporting our supply chain—placing and receiving orders, organizing shopping lists, and keeping our inventory updated:

Supporting and supervising volunteers in their daily activities and leading program trainings for newly arrived volunteers, in collaboration with our Protection Officer;
-
Driving daily as needed;
-
Assisting the Project Coordinator and staff team with additional tasks, such as supporting daily morning briefings and monthly program meetings;

Participating bi-weekly in the coordination meetings;
-
Participating in the weekly Project Team meetings;
-
Taking over minor tasks from one of the coordinators, when necessary;
-
Intervening in case of emergencies in the absence of one or more Coordinators.
What we are looking for
-
At least 23 years old;
-
Able to commit for (at least) 6 months;
-
Eligible to reside and work in the EU (as a small NGO we are not able to offer assistance for visa applications);

(Under - )graduate degree in a relevant field of study;

1 year minimum experience from humanitarian organizations, and project or volunteer management in particular;

Previous experience in developing and using M&E tools and reporting mechanisms as well as in supply chain is highly appreciated;

Familiarity with Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel;

Excellent communication & interpersonal skills;

Good organizational & time management skills;

Ability to work in high-paced environment and under pressure;

Ability to work independently and take initiative;

Able to provide a Criminal Record Check;

Fluent in English. Greek and other context relevant languages (i.e. Farsi/Arabic/Amharic/Somali) are an advantage;

High degree of integrity and strict compliance to our Code of Conduct and Safeguarding Policy;

Commitment to the values and mission of Europe Cares;

An experienced driver with an international drivers license. This is a necessary requirement for the position.
