Europe Cares (EC) is a young and growing humanitarian organization supporting people on the move and standing up for human rights at the European external borders. 
 

On Lesvos, we operate the community center Paréa Lesvos located within walking distance from the Lesvos CCAC (or Mavrovouni refugee camp). The center offers a safe space where residents of the camp, locals, and international people can meet freely to spend time in a peaceful environment with many recreational activities and sports, a Women Space, a Child Friendly Space, a cafeteria with free drinks and daily lunch. Our center hosts another 10+ partner organizations offering a wide range of services to our visitors including MHPSS, medical and legal support, NFI distributions, informal education and integration support.
 

Position Summary
 

Our Communications Intern is responsible for supporting our remote central team with managing EC communication channels, including website and social media management, writing monthly newsletters, supporting communication and fundraising campaigns. This is a crucial role for Europe Cares to keep our projects running, grow and further develop our capacity to better meet the needs of the community we serve.

You will be based on Lesvos and work partially remotely with our central team, and partially in our community center with our local team.
 

We offer the possibility to join a full time internship with 35 hours per week, or a part time with 25 hours per week.
 

The ideal starting date is in early April 2026.
 

This role can be accounted as an official internship.

Daily tasks

  • Preparation of photo and video content in Paréa;

  • Designing and posting content for our social media, including Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn, in collaboration with the Comms team;

  • Support in the preparation of texts including press releases, articles, newsletters;

  • Support in the preparation of infographics present in reports, articles, posters, and other informational materials;

  • Development of the EC website;

  • Help develop fundraising materials, including presentations, flyers, outreach material, etc;

  • Help develop fundraising campaign, including goals, message and content;

  • Help develop concepts for fundraising events;

  • Support volunteers organizing fundraising and/or awareness events;

  • Support the local team with smaller admin tasks and/or project-related tasks.

What we are looking for

  • Able to commit for (at least) 4 months for the full time role and (at least) 6 months for the part time;

  • (Under-)graduate degree in a relevant field of study;

  • Interest in the humanitarian sector, especially migration issues;

  • (Desirably) previous experience working with displaced communities and/or in similar projects;

  • Previous experience in communications, social media management, graphic design, etc. is highly desirable;

  • A creative and proactive approach;

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English & (desirably) German;

  • Ability to work independently, proactively and collaborate effectively within a team;

  • Good organizational & time management skills;

  • Able to provide a Criminal Record Check;

  • High degree of integrity and strict compliance to our Code of Conduct and Safeguarding Policy;
