MAKERSPACE
LESVOS
Makerspace Lesvos is a community workshop at the Kara Tepe refugee camp on Lesvos, where people on the move and European volunteers work side by side to repair bicycles, phones, and everyday essentials.

What Happens at the Makerspace
6,955 bicycles repaired since 2021
The MakerSpace repairs and maintains bicycles for camp residents, providing an accessible and practical way to get around the island independently.
Hundreds of devices restored
Smartphones and other devices are repaired and returned to their owners, helping people stay in contact with family and access important services and information.
Learning and teaching side by side
Beyond repairs, the MakerSpace runs workshops where residents and volunteers exchange skills. Many of the team members are camp residents themselves, contributing their knowledge and experience to the project.

Part of the
PARÉA
COMMUNITY
MakerSpace Lesvos is based at Paréa Community Center on Lesvos, a space that brings together several grassroots initiatives supporting people living in and around the CCAC.
Europe Cares supports MakerSpace as part of its broader partnership with Paréa, contributing to staff costs and ongoing operations. It is an independent project, but one that shares our approach: practical, community-led support that respects the agency and skills of the people it works with.
