The political and social reality in Europe is becoming increasingly complex and uncertain. We all know the role that Germany plays as the first European authority in defining the migration and border policies of the member states. With the disastrous results of the recent elections to the Bundestag, we can only expect the situation for people on the move to worsen, with predictable consequences such as further cuts in the European budget for programs and support services for refugees and asylum seekers, as well as increased border controls and restrictions, and worse, an unrestrained increase in the polarization of public opinion against all migrants, supported by the hate speech that is becoming more and more common even in the public media. But far from discouraging us, this message is a call to action, to act in solidarity, to support each other, especially those who need it most. Some of the things we can do to act:
