Key Services Provided
MSF operates a mobile medical unit in the collective space, near Mavrovouni camp, offering a comprehensive primary healthcare package that includes:
Primary Health Care
Which specifically includes :
General medical consultations
Integrated mental health care
Sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services
This holistic model ensures that patients receive timely, coordinated care tailored to their physical and psychological needs.
2. Mental Health Support
MSF’s mental health services focus on individuals experiencing:
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Depression
Acute stress reactions
Common symptoms addressed: insomnia, flashbacks, anxiety, and feelings of hopelessness.
MHPSS Services offered:
Individual psychological consultations
Emergency psychological first aid for new arrivals and acute cases
3. Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH)
Dedicated SRH services include:
Medical and psychological support for survivors of sexual violence
Family planning consultations
Screening, prevention, and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs)
4. Emergency Medical Care for New Arrivals
MSF provides urgent medical assistance to individuals arriving by sea, including:
On-the-spot medical triage
Psychological first aid
Referrals to local hospitals when further care is required
5. Health Promotion and Social Support
Through a multidisciplinary team, MSF strengthens access to care and empowers communities with:
Health promotion and education
Intercultural mediation
Linkage to legal aid and social services
Ongoing Advocacy
MSF continues to call for humane and dignified reception conditions for asylum seekers and migrants in Lesbos, and for equitable access to healthcare and protection mechanisms.
